Instructions:
1) Block in the Peonies: Start by dampening your brush and mixing Permanent Rose with a bit of white to create a lovely pink. Use broad strokes to sketch the outline of your peonies directly onto the canvas. Don't worry about precision at this stage - we're just laying down the foundation.
2) Build the Background: Mix Permanent Rose with Sap Green to create a pinkish-grey hue for the background. Apply this color to the canvas, focusing on creating an abstract background that complements the peonies. Don't be afraid to experiment with different brush strokes and shades.
3) Add Depth to the Peonies: Using a mixture of Permanent Rose, white, and a touch of green, start building up the layers of the peonies. Focus on creating the shape of the petals and adding depth to the flowers. Remember, it's okay to overlap the background - it adds to the depth of the painting.
4) Enhance the Foliage: Mix Hooker's Green with a touch of Permanent Rose to create a rich, dark green for the foliage. Add contrast by carving in darker patches and defining the leaves. Experiment with different shades of green to bring the foliage to life.
