Wedding Bouquet Painting
As you all know, I adore painting flowers, and wedding bouquet painting is just my most favourite thing ever! Being part of such a special event makes me overwhelmed with thankfulness. I wanted to share with you some of my recent wedding bouquet painting commissions, and show you a bit about the process.

First of all, I want to show you the paintings next to their original photos, so you can see the difference.
My Painting Process
My process begins with studying as many photos of the bouquet as I can. Viewing it from different angles really helps me understand the textures and the 'feel' of the bouquet. Then I discuss different options with the customer and see if they have any requests for the painting. Next I get to work on mapping out the bouquet. This is stage one and I mainly use charcoal and washes of acrylic. This is one of my favourite parts as I feel so free and full of possibilities. It's full of movement and energy as I decide the path the painting will take.
Stage two is where I start adding colour and begin the ideas that flow in my mind. This is where I start deciding the colour palette and build up the layers. I will also send the customer a photograph at this point to check they are happy with how it's coming together. Usually I start feeling nervous and undecided at this point. It's where the panic sets in and I begin to dislike the painting. But then...
I start to add structure with contrasting colours and I start to see potential again. This is when I get that excited fluttery feeling in my belly, as anticipation grows to see it progress.
Stage four is also one of my favourite moments, where I add details and try and harmonize the painting. I love to add little embellishments like pearlescent paint or interesting texture.
In the later stages, I send lots of photos so that the customer can really see it evolving. I love that special moment when they see their finished bouquet painting and fall in love with it. I also offer varnishing as an option to acrylic paintings, as they dry pretty quickly.
