I used acrylic in this painting so that I could apply lots of layers quickly. Rather than blending, I like to keep each layer visible so you can see the depth in the painting. Mixing the warm pinks and oranges, keeps the painting from looking too cold, and gives an abstract feeling to the piece. Throughout my process, I begin with a creative frenzy in the first layer, and then refine the painting with each sitting. The delicate colours in this magnolia painting remind me of being enveloped by flowers in the Spring. I used a palette knife and heavy brush strokes to bring a captivating texture to the painting.
