Exploring composition on a square shape can be challenging. The structural quality of magnolia branches makes it difficult to keep the painting soft. This is where I brought together the delicate flower petals mixed with playful brush strokes to bring a gentle atmosphere. I wanted to try and capture this in my artwork. The delicate colours in this magnolia painting remind me of being enveloped by flowers in the Spring. I used a palette knife and heavy brush strokes to bring a captivating composition to the painting.
